Spanish courses:

Talk Spanish (BBC) Book with cassettes/CDs. Covers the basics of what you will need when on holiday in Spain

Talk Spanish 2 (BBC) Builds on the book above with more practical topics.

España Viva (BBC) course book and CDs or cassettes. Aimed at beginner, this covers all the situations you might find yourself in abroad (ordering food, shopping, hotels etc) in greater depth than Talk Spanish, as well as conversation and simple explanations of how the language works.

Grammar books:

Easy Learning Spanish Grammar, (Collins). Really clear explanation of all aspects of Spanish grammar.

A New Reference Grammar of Modern Spanish John Butt and Carmen Benjamin (Arnold). A comprehensive guide to all aspects of Spanish Grammar; also has an accompanying workbook.

Teach Yourself Spanish Grammar Juan Kattán-Ibarra (Hodder and Stoughton). good explanations of all aspects of grammar.

¡Viva la gramática! Phil Turk and Mike Zollo, (Hodder and Stoughton) Guide to the grammar you need at GCSE.

Acción Gramática Phil Turk and Mike Zollo (Hodder and Stoughton). Covers all the grammar you would need for A-level, with clear explanations, exercises and answers.

English grammar for students of Spanish Emily Spinelli (Arnold) Excellent explanations of how both English and Spanish grammar works to make learning Spanish easier.
