Tailor-Made Language Services, Motivation! Learning support newsletter

Here is a selection of links to websites we recommend.

Spanish culture and tourism

http://www.elpais.es/ The website for the leading Spanish newspaper.

http://cvc.cervantes.es This is the website for the Cervantes Institute. There is information on culture, history, food, language and lots of useful links.

http://www.tourspain.es The Spanish Tourist Board website. Lots of useful information for planning a trip to Spain.

http://www.renfe.es Plan your train journeys and book tickets on-line.

Accommodation

http://www.parador.es Get detailed information on Spain’s wonderful Parador hotels - or just drool over the photos in the album for each hotel!

http://www.charming-spain-hotels.com/en/ Easy to use site for booking accommodation in Spain.

http://www.s-h-systems.co.uk/ Excellent site for finding accommodation anywhere. Click on ‘Discount hotels worldwide’ to find masses of places to stay, many with links to the hotel’s own website.

http://www.sispain.org Practical information about Spain and a searchable index of fiestas - watch out for broken links, though.

Learning Spanish

http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/index.shtml BBC language learning resources are highly recommended.

http://www.studyspanish.com Lots of grammar practice.

http://mld.ursinus.edu/~jarana/Ejercicios/self-check.html Lots of gap-filler type exercises.

http://www.trinity.edu/mstroud/grammar/ More grammar practice.

http://www.colby.edu/~bknelson/SLC/index.php Lots of grammar practice as well as listening and reading exercises.

http://www.wordreference.com Very good on-line dictionary: unlimited use and forums where you can ask vocabulary-related questions.

http://www.diccionarios.com Excellent on-line dictionary but you can make a few searches per day. Subscription is probably cheaper than buying a new dictionary every few years!

http://www.languageguide.org Pronunciation and vocabulary practice.

http://www.espanol-extra.co.uk Lots of fun stuff to practice vocabulary such as hangman, wordsearches etc plus listening practice and lots more.

www.esaudio.net As the name suggests, you will find some audio materials on this site and this is the only time I have ever come across audio materials with a normal and a slower version of the same thing!

http://www.vocabulix.com/ Useful verb drills - you choose the verbs, the person and the tense. More useful than the vocabulary builder.

Lucky Dip

http://www.positivelyspanish.com Clearly-presented site with grammar and vocabulary information and a page of links.

http://www.lingolex.com/spanish.htm Lots of vocabulary lists in themes, chat room etc.
